Are You a ‘Tux Procrastinator’? We Can Help!
By Misty Gray / October 29, 2024 / Formalwear, Things To Do, Wedding Planning / 0 CommentsSo, you’ve popped the question, set the date, and maybe even picked out the cake flavor (red velvet, anyone?).
But when it comes to tuxedos, you may already know that you’re at risk of ‘dragging your polished dress shoes’ when it comes to the getting this oh-so-necessary pre-wedding task done on time. (And we won’t even mention your groomsmen!)
If you’re a self-confessed “tux procrastinator,” don’t sweat it—Karl’s Tuxedos here in Springfield, MO, has your back (and your front, sleeves, and pant legs).
We get it—weddings are exciting, but not everyone is thrilled about the ‘attire planning’ part.
That’s why we’ve put together some handy tips to make your tuxedo rental experience as smooth as a perfectly knotted bow tie.
1. Register Early and Spread the Word
First things first: register your wedding with us as soon as you can. Once that’s done, let your groomsmen know they can stop by Karl’s Tuxedos at their convenience to get fitted.
Got guys scattered across the country? No problem! Encourage them to visit a local tuxedo shop to have their measurements taken by a professional.
Why the urgency? We appreciate having all measurements at least four weeks before the big day. This ensures everyone looks sharp, and there’s plenty of time for any necessary adjustments.
2. Clear Up the Payment Plan
Money talks can be awkward, but a little clarity goes a long way. Let everyone in your party know how the payment will be handled:
- Individual Payments: If each person is covering their own rental, tell them ASAP to avoid any surprise wallet workouts during their fitting.
- Group Payments: If you’re footing the bill for the squad, it’s best to handle it early to dodge any last-minute confusion.
Remember, tuxedos need to be paid for at least two weeks prior to the wedding.
3. Try It On—Seriously, Do It
We can’t stress this enough: try on your tuxedo when you pick it up. We carry our own inventory on-site, so last-minute tweaks are a breeze for us. There are plenty of adjustable features in rental wear that you might not be familiar with, and our experts are here to ensure everything fits like a glove.
- Out-of-Towners: If someone can’t make it to the store, make sure they get their tuxedo as soon as possible. If adjustments are needed, we’re happy to help—they just need to bring the tuxedo in, and we’ll handle the rest.
Heads Up: We can’t offer refunds due to fit issues, so trying on the tuxedo either in-store or allowing enough time for alterations is crucial.
4. Enjoy the Perks
Good news! Studs and cufflinks are included with each rental. It’s the little things that make a big difference in pulling off that dashing look.
5. Understand the Damage Waiver
A $12.95 damage waiver is added to each rental to cover any accidental mishaps. Spilled some champagne on your jacket during a toast? We’ve got you covered.
However, any careless or malicious damage is on you, and items will need to be replaced at full retail value.
6. Plan for the Return
After the celebration, the last thing you want is extra charges. Tuxedos for Saturday events are due back by Monday between 10 AM and 6 PM (holidays excepted). Late fees start on Tuesday at $15 per tuxedo, with an additional full rental charge for each subsequent day.
Pro Tip: Assign one responsible person to return all the tuxedos. It streamlines the process and ensures no one forgets.
7. Quick Tips For Managing The ‘Tux Rental’ Timing
To ensure your groomsmen get their tuxedos sorted out on time, communicate the timeline clearly and early by providing all the necessary details like fitting deadlines, store location, and contact information.
Send friendly reminders as the dates approach, and consider setting up a group chat or email thread to keep everyone informed and accountable.
Encourage out-of-town groomsmen to get measured at a local tuxedo shop and submit their measurements promptly to avoid any last-minute issues.
